Our Mission

Canoeing

The HeLa Ventures Adventure Education Centre is dedicated to providing individuals, groups, and families with positive and educational outdoor experiences. Our programs are delivered from a holistic perspective and encourage a healthy lifestyle through the incorporation of activities in a safe, respectful manner.

The HeLa Ventures Team

The HeLa staff team consists of professional educators, qualified instructors, and guides certified and qualified in the delivery of adventure programs. Our areas of expertise include lake and river canoeing, river tripping, rafting, kayaking, rock and ice climbing, hiking, backpacking, cross-country and telemark skiing, ski touring, wilderness living skills. Through a partnership with Western Adventure Education (WAVE), we also offer a variety of wilderness first aid, swift-water rescue, and mountain safety search and rescue programs and certifications.
HeLa Ventures is an accredited member of the Alberta Camping Association.
Safety and environmental stewardship are the guiding factors for all of our programs.

The facility offers opportunities for groups to participate in multi-day outdoor programs throughout the year. Our field school functions both as a base camp for our many out trips but also as a home base for a wide variety of curriculum-based outdoor and adventure education groups to stay overnight and return to after their various explorations.

Directions to HeLa Ventures Camp:

From Rocky Mountain House, proceed west on Highway 11 approximately 24 km. Turn left where the old highway and new highway meet. Take a quick right and HeLa's facility is the first establishment you will come across on the right, about 1 kilometre from turn.

Our programs

All of our programs are lead by well-trained, qualified and certified staff. We meet or exceed standards outlined in the Safety Guidelines for Physical Activity in Alberta Schools (Nov. 2003). We can offer a variety of standard program options, or we can custom design a program to meet your specific expectations and curriculum objectives.
