Certification programs are arranged for groups only. If you have a group interested in a program, please contact us and we will set a program up for you. Individuals may participate in an existing program; please contact us for more information.

Programs available include:
  • PC Flatwater Instructor
  • PA Paddle Alberta Waterfront Instructors
  • PA Tandem River Instructor
  • PA Tandem and Solo River Instructor
  • PA River Trip Leader Certification
  • Swift Water Rescue Technician (SRT 1)
  • PC Kayak or Moving Water programs may also be arranged.

Guide Training Programs

HeLa offers a guide training program:
  • The Adventure Leadership Practicum (ALP) is based out of our Rocky Mountain House site. It runs from May through August, and combines formal training, certifications, and work experience.

  • Opportunities for experiences on Northern rivers also exist.
Our First Aid and CPR courses are offered in conjunction with Western Adventure Education (WAVE)
